Our next stop is Ft. Macon in Atlantic Beach, NC. We will have a 6th and 8th grader. Please let me know good areas and areas to avoid. I am a special education teacher so a good place to work would be great too.
I was stationed at Station Fort Macon for just under 5 years and loved it there. I would love to go back. There realy are not to many bad areas to live. Keep in mind the closer to the beach you are the more you will pay. But pretty much anywhere you go is pretty nice. It all really depend on what you can spend for housing. Havelock is cheap but full of Marines, Newport is a little better and fewer Marines and some white trash parts, Morehead City is a top choice. The schools are good and I believe there are lots of opprotunities for you to teach. Good Luck and if you need anything else please let me know.
My husband is going to be at Sector Engineering. We have looked online at some houses. How far is Havelock from the base? I am not sure if we are going to buy or rent. We have to sell our house here first. So much to do!!! I just hope that I can get a job when we get there.
