Just found out I am transferring to STA Calumet Harbor. Anyone familiar with the area let me know what to expect and the best place to live. All input is welcome.
Thanks!

Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Taking Chief Allen's spot, huh?

The neighborhood around the park that the STA is in is lower income and a little rough around the edges. The Indiana border isn't too far away, look south. No major Interstate access in the area, all Chicago city streets.

Rt 41 northbound is a great way to head north to STA Small when it is open in the summer (located just south of Chicago's Navy Pier).

Give the Chief or Mr. H a call to get the straight scoop. Mr. Stevens (Sector Auxops) spends a lot of time there and is another great resource. Look me up in the Global for any more info (restaurants, etc). Welcome aboard!

Was there 1996-2000 and a lot of the crew did live in NW Indiana (40 min). We lived in Merrillville which was ok. If you prefer a more country like atmosphere check out Crown Point, IN. Going into Chicago was always so muh fun and a great big city with a small city feel.

Don't forget Three Floyds Brewing Company in Munster, IN.

That one was quite good, but unfortunately not convenient enough for regular visits. I normally went with the local "Farmingdale Wines" winery. Available only to a select lucky few, and in very limited quantities. And now unavailable in the Chi-town area. Cool

Thanks for all the good info! I spoke with Mr. H, he echoed much of the same advice. Gonna call Chief Allen this week to get some more of the skinny... again thanks! Keep it coming! Wink
