What type of place are you looking for? What price range?

I live here now, and may be able to help you look around if you give me some info to go with.

My opinion is if stationed at ATC look in Semmes area, if stationed at Group or Base er I mean sector look in Eastern Shore.

This free advice comes with a money-back guarantee.

I'm transferring to ATC. I really don't want to go to an apartment but we're a family of four with a dog so a place with a yard would be nice and also a good school district.

I agree with the above post - if you can find a house in Semmes, AL. It is very close to the Air Station and its a nice area.
We lived there for 4 years...the only thing I hated about Mobile is it's too darn hot! I hate the humidity!!!

What's the bridge/tunnel commute look like now? Say, if a crazy man were to want to live on the east side, and commute to the Theodore Range Line Road?

Depends on time of day. Some times there is no traffic at all, during rush hours you can expect a big tie up at the curves at the western ends of the tunnel and the rise back up to ground level (some people never heard of downshifting or getting a running start).

RWLucas is right. Depends on the time of day. Although, I do know some airdales that live on the eastern shore and commute to ATC.

My opinion would be to live in the Semmes area. Nice houses, great schools, and very quick drive to ATC.

Also find the invisible line that separates flood zones from not-so-floody zones. The railroad tracks that parallel I-10 to the South are one. There are others around the bay and the rivers. If you live in some areas it may be very expensive to impossible to buy insurance.

Most of the Eastern Shore, the top half anyway, is on a bluff.
