Hey everyone,I was wondering if it was possible to reclass via the BEAR program from Korea? At the end of my tour there I will have 2yrs left on my enlistment, since it is a overseas tour I'm thinking its not possible. Also if I was to wait until I returned from Korea to a CONUS unit I would have to be there for a yr at that station before I could move.So is it possible or am I stuck?

Its certainly possible to re-up to reclass (under option 3: Army Training Option) from Korea. The only thing is in order to qualify for options 3,4, or 5, you must be within 12 months of your DEROS. (if OCONUS)

Normally, as long as you're within 24 months of your ETS date, you are eligible to reenlist. However, a NEW MILPER message just came down stating that if your contractual ETS date is between 1 OCT 2009 and March 2012, you can reenlist RIGHT NOW! There is NO 12 or 24 month window for this retention fiscal year!

So, provided your ETS date is BEFORE APR 2012, you can reenlist to reclass now and get a school date.

Lastly, you are correct that if you PCS to a different unit you must have at least 12 months time on station (TOS) before trying to move, but this generally applies to PCS moves. You can still reenlist as soon as you get there and just have a school date for the new MOS far enough out to meet the TOS requirement. But why wait, you can re-up now outside of the two years instead.
