please share any knowledge you have on this critical question. i'm at benning, returning to active duty after national guard. no break in service. i'm having trouble with my hearing! (one deployment, tikrit iraq) i was freakin' worried that they could toss me out back to civilian life. the audiologist seemed to be saying that i would either be sent forward 11X if my hearing was good enough or given a more admin type MOS if my hearing was bad. please share any knowledge, i need to succeed at getting back to active and serving! thanks~
I too have some issues with hearing thanks to an IED. What seems to work for me, is wearing earplugs for a full 24 hours prior to the test, taking them out once your in the booth. The other thing is to take some antihystimines (hayfever) medicine a few hours prior to the test to make sure you not congested. Be careful with that especially if you have any issues with blood pressure to start with.
During the test, concetrate but don't stress, and tap the button if you even think you might have heard the ping. It's far worse to be conservative with the response and fail the test, than to be told not to hit the button so much.
And one more thing, stay away from listening to loud music, tractor pulls, and if you're in a place with loud sounds (where you have to shout to be heard more than a few feet) wear your earplugs, that includes ALL military vehicles.
