Being that this is still a new Btn there is little information out there on it. My main questions refer to MI and what MOS's are going to be a part of the 75th STB MI section? Also are these soldiers going to be able to attend scuba, halo, JM, sniper, scout swimmer as well as many other schools within the Army- ie: mountianering PT, Combattitves, etc or are these still going to be limited to the 11B's of the 75th?

is it possible that this new bn will have 13B's. or even mechanics. you do have some hmmrs.

This new STB will not be required to goto RIP. They most likely will end up with female soldiers in it, because they will merely be support. Regt has had females from other units support them before, they are just doing this to have their own in house support. There is no need to think some chick will be driving the rangers around in a stryker. She will be back at the FOB ordering them more MR. E's and getting them replacement parts for gear and things of that sort. These guys like I said will not be required to attend RIP so I'd imagine there won't be a problem getting a bat worth of them.

But, getting the RIP option with that MOS will get your foot in the door.
BTW. biil p Why do you want to be a cannon jockey? I don't believe the Regiment has a need for those. Mechanics, yes. |

Being that they are under 75th would they be issues the beret(isnt getting the scroll enough) or is that still up in the air?

STARTERS WHY I WANTED TO BE A CANNON JOCKEY. ORIGINALLY I DIDNT I WANTED TO BE A FISTER. BUT WHEN I WENT DOWN TO MEPS ON FRI, ITS THAT OR A COOK. SURE I COULD BE A RANGER AS A COOK. RANGERS EAT TO. REALLY I WANTED A MOS THAT I KNOW WILL PROMOTE FAST. THAT IS ONE. 11 SERIES IS ALL FILLED UP. SO HERE I AM. NOW MY PRIOR SERVICE MOS IS IN 63 SERIES. THATS WHY I ASK ABOUT THE MECHANICS. MACHANICS DONT KICK DOWN DOORS WITH YOU GUYS. WE WOULD JUST PUT GUARD DUTY. I WAS ATTACHED TO A INF UNIT DURING DESERT STORM AND THATS WHERE I WAS WHEN THERE WASNT ANY TO REPAIR. KIND OF CRAZY T TELL A SPEEDING TO HALT WHEN YOU DONT EVEN HAVE ANY AMMO. UNDERSTAND NOW. I KNOW RANGERS ARE SMARTER THAN THAT. NOW ITS A RANGER UNIT OR A AIRBORNE UNIT. CAN YOU HELP ME .

So there are females that go through RIP now?
|

They're no females going thru RIP, nor are they in REGT.
RTB is not Regiment. jds |

No ****, RTB is NOT regt trust me I know. I was referring to the beret issue which was asked about. I stated there are females that have and are wearing the TAN beret. There will not be any females going through RIP but if you think with the support Battalion there won't be any females in there in some sort of position your going to throw up when you see it shortly though |

RELEASE NUMBER: 050816-02 DATE POSTED: AUGUST 16, 2005 Rangers add support positions By Kim Laudano 75th Ranger Regiment Public Affairs Office FORT BENNING, Ga. The 75th Ranger Regiment has a recently expanded list of military occupational specialties to include several positions in support functional areas. Rangers are the U.S. Army Special Operations Command's light infantry unit. They have been actively engaged in the Global War on Terrorism since October 2001. Rangers were among the first troops on the ground during the initial stages of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Today, they continue conducting missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Support personnel play a key role in maintaining unit readiness, explained Master Sgt. Mark Chance, senior regimental support non-commissioned officer. "The regiment recognized the benefit of a complete support element organic to the unit," he said. "These Soldiers are an integral part of daily operations whether at home, deployed for training or deployed in theater." The support positions are completely new so the Rangers are seeking motivated Soldiers to be part of their first generation of support personnel. "We are looking for Soldiers to be a part of regimental history," said Chance. "The Soldiers who fill these positions will define the Ranger regiment's support operations while simultaneously performing duties critical to continued mission success in support of the Global War on Terrorism." Maintaining a qualified group of support Soldiers for a front-line war-fighting unit engaged in continuous combat operations requires knowing the latest in technology and tactics, techniques and procedures. This is why the regiment emphasizes ongoing training and education. "The Rangers are resourced to develop exceptional combat proficiencies," explained Chance. "This emphasis is not limited to the unit's infantry Soldiers." Support Soldiers regularly have the opportunity to attend a variety of military and civilian schools relative to their respective MOS to enhance their combat readiness and personal abilities. "Everyone brings something to the fight and we ensure our Soldiers are trained to provide the high level of support this elite unit demands," he said. Soldiers in the new positions will be permanently assigned to the regimental headquarters or one of three geographically dispersed battalions in Georgia and Washington. Soldiers are encouraged to visit the U.S. Army Special Operations Command news service at http://news.soc.mil for up-to-date news and background information about the 75th Ranger Regiment. -usasoc- Ranger Support MOS Positions Enlisted 21H Construction Engineering Supervisor 21R Interior Electrician 21W Carpentry And Masonry Specialist 44B Metal Worker 45B Small Arms/Artillery Repairer 45K Armament Repairer 52C Utilities Equipment Repairer 52D Power-Generation Equipment Repairer 63B Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic 74D Chemical Operations Specialist 88M Motor Transport Operator 88N Transportation Management Coordinator 89B Ammunition Specialist 91J Medical Logistics Specialist 92A Automated Logistical Specialist 92F Petroleum Supply Specialist 92G Food Service Operations 92R Parachute Rigger 92Y Unit Supply Specialist 94F Special Electronic Devices Repairer 92W Water Treatment Specialist Officer 88A Transportation Officer 91A Logistics Plans Officer 882A Mobility Officer 910A Ammunition Technician 915A Maintenance Technician 920A Property Accountability Officer 920B Supply Systems Technician 921A Airdrop Equipment Technician |

wow, looks like theirt rying to make it more and ore like the 82nd... and why is it that there are going to be so much more people wearing the scroll and beret that havent earned it?
|
|||
|
|
Basic Training |
The scroll is a unit designation and can be worn by anyone in that unit that falls under it's chain of command on a permanent basis, what are they suppose to wear a scroll that says pogue on it? There has been folks long wearing the Green Beret (not anymore I don't believe) the Tan beret and the Maroon beret that did not "earn it". it's organizational headgear and patches are organizational also. Lots of pogues walking around group wearing the SF patch, they just don't have the long tab. |

Well that is unfortunate, but understandable due to availibilty of options.

Interesting question that has come ot mind while doing some research on the posts as of late. Due to the creation of the new unit and the jobs it is ging to be including does anyone think that there will possibly be any 15Q(Air Traffic Controllers) assigned here or will that be handled by a different unit? I know there are a couple of highspeed 15Qs at Bragg and QRF Air Assault platoon at Campbell, which from what I have read a very little about and spending my time in the USAF I would say they are somewhat an Army version of a USAF CombatController... ne ideas? Thank you...

The Army and AF have been bantering about on the whole ETAC thing for years. AF wants Army to do it as they only like to spend money on jets and other core AF things. USASOC has even started running a CAS class internaly. Who knows where this will end up. In my opinion I really liked having ETAC's with us and from 1986 on have only good things to say about the ones I have worked with in both peace time and combat. They have all been outstanding at their jobs and had great knowledge of infantry tactics and weapoins systems; as well as a willingness to get dirty and be just another team member. The AF will tell you that there ETAC's are not spec ops, which based on the AF structure they are not. However I have always thought of them as spec ops. If you look into the TAC job in the AF there are a number of reserve and active duty positions around the country. In order to be in support of Spec Ops you must serve time in support of the regualr Army and then go through a selection/testing phase in order to move up. If there is a good relationship with the Army unit they will send you to Army schools etc. I looked at an in service transfer after my first trip down range but would have been lucky to be an E-6 if I did it so I decided to stay put. There re-enlistment bonuses were in the 60-80k range a few years ago. If you are serious about this career look into the AF boards; however don't mention that they are in the spec ops AF world as for some reason this send those who are considered Spec Ops(CCT, PJ etc) into melt down. If you research Operation Anaconda in A-stan you will read about one ETAC who was exceptional, I was able to work with him on 1 tour and he was a really good guy and awarded highly for his actions.

Thank you for your reply, I definately agree with you the ETAC that was with Cunningham that day did an outstanding job... unfortunately politics did what they do and things went the way they did. My cousin is a PJ currently down range and we have had many a conversation in regards to me going back into the USAF but unfortunately it isnt an option after my last enlistment. Due to the fact that I cant go back into the USAF I am looking for something along the lines of a highspeed Air Traffic Control unit, along the lines of an AF Combat Conroller or possibly a TACP. I was thinking about going option 40 but due to me growing up with an extreme passion for aviation I decided for the long run I am going to go with an Aviation MOS, 15Q. Any ideas as to where I can look for something like this, any help is appreciated. Thank you...
