Basic Training |
This last week I spoke to a recruiter about joining the Army Reserves as a 37F and have a meeting to meet the local unit commander later this week. I am a college grad with a BS in Social Science, (I plan on going the enlisted route) and this sounds like a good fit for me. Is there someone out there currently in this MOS? I was hoping you could share your experiences with me. I am really curious about a few things.
Basic and AIT, both at Fort Bragg? Any other details or advice you have. I do not speak a foreign langue (not required for reserve) but does this limit the assignments. What types of questions would ask a local unit commander? Any insights you have would be helpful. Thank you for your response(s). |

There is no basic training at Bragg.
They do AIT for 37F and 38A here, though. |

AIT is a suck fest. makes basic look like summer camp.
As for everything else, you should ask if your unit has the slots to send you to Airborne other wise if you are hot **** you might be the reservist who is allowed to go with the active guys from your class down to Benning. Also ask about slots to DLI or if you are intrested in going to BLMC over at Banks hall. The job as a reservist is not so great. the reservist are attached to conventional army units and tend to not be utilized properly, you might be burning **** or pulling guard for a whole deployment. if you are gona do it, do it right and go active. Bragg is not so bad and working in the POG is no like being in the army. |
