I have been diagnosed with Patellar chondromalacia and was taken off jump status. the doctor has told me I will never jump again. as I am a 37F that makes me no longer MOS qualified. so what is going to happen to me? I have 17 months left in the army and do not plan to reenlist. Am I going to be made the admin clerk for the next year and a half, (totally gay) or are they going to reclass me or just kick me out of the army? Also if you are not MOS Qualified can you still be promoted?
I have read all the regs I could find, and this situation does not seem to be addressed. I can not find an SOP that states what they are supposed to do with me, only that I am no longer MOS Qed. so if you have specific regs or SOPs I can cite I would appreciate it.
It does seem that, if you're not MOSQ you're not able to be on a TPT.
You might want to swallow your pride and finish your time wherever they stick you. You might actually learn something in one of those S-Shops you can use in the civilian sector.
How much jumping are TPTs really doing? There should be plenty of missions a well trained 37F could participate in without that need. Seems like they would at least attempt to keep you around without the status. What would it hurt? Every man helps.
Go see your SGM and explain to him what you want to do and ask him for options. Mil.Com should be the last place to go to. Your chain of command is there for a reason.
This is just a piece of wothless PSYOP lore, but supposedly the PSYOP Planner (E-7) assigned to the 173rd Brigade staff gave a BS brief and got to jump with them. And he broke his manpack during the jump. This came from the E-7 he replaced, as told to me in 8th BN in 2003.

Is this a reserve unit?

It was up to the CDR and S-3 if they PSYOP was going to jump. I would rather have that guy around and not need him, than need him and have him coming in 24-72 hours later on the airland.
No one knew what was going to happen on the ground.
I think they made the right choice to let him jump.

IIRC, the 301st PSYOP (Reserve) out of Upland, CA are "Airborne" in name only. No jump slots, no Airborne School, etc...

FWIW, I knew some PSYOPers back in the day who had jumped into 'Operation Just Cause' (Panama). Seemed a litle pointless to me but what the heck, it didn't hurt the mission.
You are missing the point. And this comes from a PSYOp-er who did time in both Strat (8th BN) and TAC (11th BN). The guy that jumped was a career Stat guy. Who talked his way into a jump onto a SECURED AIRFIELD in order to get his mustard stain.
I worked with one of the guys who jumped into Kandahar. That was needed. PSYOP was value added. A loudspeaker jumping with the 173rd was not.
Oh, and there was already PSYOP with 10th SFG in Kurdistan. So there was already Vehicle mounted FOL on the ground, available for use by the 173rd.
the 356th is on Jump Status. They jump on a regular basis.
The 303rd (my company)is getting close to 50% jump qualed. We are also getting more AASLT and Mountain warfare slots. We have gotten 2 soldiers to pathfinder so far.
Isn't the reserve PSYOP Company in Texas on jump status as well?
Tony37F, man I hope the best for you, but the Army has a way of thinking you are great while you are an asset and forgetting about you as soon as you are a liability. I truly hope that will not be the case for you.
Just wanted to thank everyone for the advise. They started my MEB paperwork yesterday, a PL3. Docs say I will be walking with a cane in a few years. Anyone know how long the MEB process is for something like a jacked up knee?

The unfortunate thing with med boards is that they always vary in the time they take to be completed.
