I am doing research on the Special Forces of the ARMY. I am just curious ... could I take the hard training and all just for the sakes of the training? Or is that not allowed due to potential of information leaking on how Special Forces training is done?
If I can't just do the training when I reach the age of 20 (not interested in real fighting), is there any resources where I can learn more in-depth about how they train?
This may be the "best" post I've ever seen on here.
SURE! Go right ahead, go to the Q. Everyone loves a person who does not want to do his job, but just wants the glory. You'd be the favorite. Do me a favor, don't even try to join the Army or do the Q Course - my husband's life and the lives of many friends and loved ones would be at risk.

No.
Let me get this straight, you want the Army to spend several hundred thousand dollars to give you "adventure training" with no intention of actually using any of it? Let me be the first to tell you what a twit you are.
Its like this, you ask a stupid question and thats what you get. Now sit back and think. If I was working a civilain job and ask the boss (and I am a dock worker) can I go take the trainning for a computer programmer, BUT!!!!!, I have no intentions what so ever of becoming one. What kind of looks and remarks to you think you would get from your boss? Or any of your co-workers that you mention this to? Huh..You tell me, what they would say. Like Duh.. Or being a dock worker (loading trucks) and ask the boss can I go take Forest Ranger trainning, you pay for (work) but, I have no intentions of ever being a Forest Ranger. I always use to say, there is never a stupid question...I'm wrong..I just heard one.
I'm just a remf but i think the guys are right on.
However here's a bit of trivia in case someone is interested.....
It has been done once. By a female anthropologist/author/wife of schoolhouse commander (If I remember correctly.)She went along on some of the training and did what she could till she wimped out.
It was written pre 9-11, and so is somewhat outdated, as best as a remf like me can tell.
I don't remember the author's name, but the book is called:
The Company They keep
Like I said I'm just a remf, but I doubt there will be many opportunities for that stuff anymore
Hey man youll train and do your job. The army isnt like acting class. It not like they train you and put you on commercials and you back to your comfy bed. In SF youll sleep with ticks find yourself alone in the woods desert jungle jumping from real planes encountering real enemy and shooting back. Dont join the ARMY PLEASE
