Hi everyone, I'm really interested in joining the Special Forces but I was wondering if any Veterans or Current Special Forces Soldiers could tell me what its like to be in that MOS.

I'm also interested in what goes on in the training. So if anyone could enlighten me on it that would be very well appreciated.

Can anyone tell me the physical Requirements for the Special Forces?

Thank You.

Sincerely,
Richard.

Google is your friend. Use the "find" button on the tool bar at the top of the forum. You'll get far better answers to your questions then asking a very basic question like this. Do your homework. Good Luck

Some of the physical requirements when it comes to the PFT is to score atleast 229 i believe. But dont just shoot for that try to get at least 250-300 to have a competetive score. You can find what you have to get on each individual test on maky different websites.

Oh Ok, Why bother replying to any of this if your gonna all act like your 10. I just want to know the answers to my simple questions.
The reason I ask them here is so I can get feed back from people who have done or recently done Special Forces training.

Apparently thats to much to ask for.

Sincerely,
Richard.

To help you get some perspective Rick, you know how irritating it is when your kids ask you where their bookbag is and it's two feet away in plain view? That's your question.

Show some initiative, use Google for gosh sakes and then ask questions about what (very little) you can't find out online on your own.

USASOC Forum participants: I can start moving these wannabe questions to the thread that is stickied at the top of the USASOC forum if you want me to.

The problem with the wannabe posters on this website is if they see they can post elsewhere and get an answer faster they will.

So I need your help as well and that is to either mark the post for moving or ignore the posters until they post in the proper area. Once they post in the proper area someone has to answer them seriously. Otherwise it is self-defeating and the posters get frustrated.

My experience so far with the Army Wannabe thread is that some post there, get sarcastic or no answers, get impatient and then leave it and post elsewhere.

Let me know.

That is a tough questions as sometimes you get smart unasked questions and then other times you get this guys questions which has been answered 50 times or so. I like helping out the guys that sem to have a least looked for an amswer.

OK, thanks for the feedback.

Each Forum has a seperate configuration/setup for auto-delete. I can see the settings but I can't change them. They are changeable though from what I see.

hotcheetos, I was on the sniper range when this guy, I think named Mr. Clark asked me if I wanted to go on a secret mission down south. I said yes and when I got back I was given any assignment I wanted.

Seriously the ranger option has been around since at least 1985. When I enlisted I told my recruiter I wanted to be a ranger period. I enlisted with what was called Unassigned Ranger, now option 40. OSUT, Airborne, RIP and then I went to 3rd Bn for about a week and started in-processing when they came over to my group and said there was a mistake and you are now going to 1st Bn. This was just joyous as I got to enjoy smoking from 2 different Bn's. However in the long run it worked out as Sav was much better than Columbus and 1st Bn is obviously better than 3rd Bn ha/ha.

OK, no problem. I don't know much about the SOC stuff, although I did kind of know the answer to Hotcheetos question....Heh-heh.

I'm still chuckling at the "Once I get into West Point......Can I be a Sniper?"...post in AGD.

I still remember when Delta Force came to recruit from 2AD in Germany. One of my two room mates was so impressed they didn't have to follow Army regulations on hair cuts, wear name tapes when they were in uniforms....he could not shutup about how he was going to be Delta Force....I had to listen to his mouth for a good 2 months off and on until his exercise prep program wore him out and he had to shut-up....it was humorous to watch him slowly wear himself out. I don't think he knew anything about how to build endurance.

The other roomie, went SF 15 months after he PCS'd with me to the 101st. I still can't believe that, I don't remember him mentioning it prior to re-enlisting but I was shocked when he told me in 1987. He did not like the Army but he always did his assigned tasks well and kept a low profile. I thought for sure he would ETS. He stayed SF from 1987-88 until a few years before he retired in 2004 or 2005.

It's very, and I repeat very tuff. Just the pre course to get a chance to go to Q school is pretty tuff. I attended a briefing at Campbell back in 89 while 5th group was just getting settled in. They had a recruiting drive on post and wanted volunteers to join. Out of about 50 of us in the briefing they told us only about 3 of us would make it thru the 30 day per course just to see if we could make it to Q school.
Wink I wish now that I would have at least tried!

Its a good deal joining the regiment (SF s*&t, or Ranger).
Depending on what your into, there are 4 different enlisted MOSs you can look into. People with alot more time and patience have written detailed job descriptions on this stuff and like someone has mentioned earlier your best bet would be to do a websearch. there is tons of info out there.
Its definatly rewarding experience. Its takes quite a bit of time, but really once its all said and done every moment has become well worth the effort.
you can quit at any time, but your the one who has to wake up and look in the mirror if thats what you choose to do. There are some tuff times.
I would advise anyone to consider looking into becoming an 18d, although im an 18b, looking back i wish thats what i had started off as. I may even reclass. 18d being a medic. Definalty the longest time investment.
Understand one thing though, if you make it you WILL see combat action to some level ( well depending on the political climate by the time you make it through everything). There is a certain weight that you carry with that "tab" ( i hate that word) and its no FU&^%ing joke. There are things that are not pretty.I think (know) there has been a few people who hadnt considered the reality (combat)of what they were getting into and when it comes down to it, thats what you need to consider.Wether you become an operator or a parachute infantryman, blood is blood...Think about it.
For me, i think its the best job in the f^%$ing world and its something that no one can take from you. there are ups and downs like any damn job and you definatly have to understand your own personnel dealings with people. It can be very stressfull on a marriage and if you enter the regiment with a weak marriage, this job wont make it stronger ( im sure a few people that have been around can agree with that) so thats something else you have to be able to manage.
I just went back to read your original question, i guess i went on a rant.... physical requirements.... heart and soul.

good luck
den

If you cannot look up the requirements on your own, maybe you should consider another MOS in the Army.
SF soldiers do not have time to hold your hand and bottle feed you information because you failed to see the requirements as outlined on so many sites.
all the information you need is on the PC and you (provided you had initiative) looked at goarmy.com and narrowed down to SF.
I hope you reconsider your options and consider any other MOS first until you are past the spoon feeding point.
