Hello...im prior service navy and want to go army SF. Does anyone know if they allow the 18x option in my contract. Or will I have to go to my 11B unit first then request to go to the pre-qualifiers for SF.

My recruiter told me that 18x is not an option for prior service.

It wasn't for me either, but whenever I got to my unit I contacted the SFG(A) CSM and went from there. It took me a while, but eventually got in. Never finished, broke my back in jumpschool.

I'm not sure how, but I know a guy who got 18X as prior service Navy. I just finished WTC with him in Feb. His name is David Khan and he's usually on the www.goarmy.com forums under dakhan or something like that. you might want to ask there...

I guess the idea of contacting a recruiter to find out answer about 18X are out of the question? After all it is a program for recruiters. Google must be broke as well. What a day we live in when instead of using resources like Recruiters and Google you still cannot find an answer. If you cannot find the answers using the right tools, maybe SF is not for you.

There are quite a few PS candidates in the 18x program. That being said most recruiters will tell you it isnt open to you; you just have to be persistent.

I am going to double check with my recruiter but I have a similar situation, and Ive been reading posts up the as.s. tryin to figure it out. My recruiter said that since I would be getting a new contract I was able to get 18x in the new contract. It all depends on what happens at meps.
