I have a few questions about one of the guys who works for the company I work for. He has made a lot of claims and some of them just don't seem to add up. I've done the little amount of research I can do on my end but I need a little help.

He claims:

Served with 3rd Bat. in Panama and then went to Ranger school and 91W and was transferred to the 82nd. He was then called back to 3rd Bat. to deploy to Desert Storm (they needed him due to his fluency in French.) At some point after DS he became an officer in the Reserves and was the Battalion XO for a CT based Air Ambulance unit in OEF in October of 2001.

He says he is a CPT and that he holds the following badges (in his words)
“Combat Infantryman’s Badge, with wreath”, “Combat Field Medic’s Badge, with wreath”, “Senior Airborne Wings, with wreath”, "Aircrewman Wings", and “the Air Assault/Pathfinder Badge” (he told me in the same breath as that last one that the only school he didn’t get to go to was Air Assault)

I know some of the questions to ask him but I haven’t wanted to scare him away yet.
I won’t post his name on here but feel free to email me if you are willing to help.

Thank you

“Combat Infantryman’s Badge, with wreath”, “Combat Field Medic’s Badge, with wreath”,

The CIB already has the wreath. there is no special term for calling it that.
It is like he is saying EIB with wreath. Total BS.

“the Air Assault/Pathfinder Badge” No such animal.
Pathfinder requires Airborne wings in order to attend. More BS.

Battalion XOs are normally Majors.

IMHO, the key is in the stories he tells. If every story is, "There I was, knee deep in handgrenade pins..." he's full of it. If his stories tend to be more about how it sucked, how hot it was, how bad the food was, how ugly the women were, how hard they partied once they got back, etc... then he's probably telling the truth.

I've been in the military long enough to know how a seasoned veteran should talk and I have never heard one of the say "with wreath" or anything of that sort. Everything about what he has to say and how he acts makes me suspicious. I just don't know how to confirm it.

You only need to ask him one question. Why did 3rd Bat call him back for Desert Storm since only 1 company from the whole regt. went to Desert Storm, that would be B Co. 1/75 with an extra platoon from A Co. 1/75 to give them 4 line platoons and 1 weapons plt.

Every company did an eval for the Regt. Commander, same objective etc. B Co. 1/75 set the standard as always! So they deployed, part of the reason for the lack of spec ops was due in part to the terrain, misssion etc., but an even greater reason was that Gen Stormin Norman had a slight bias against spec ops due to his experience in Greneda. His opinion changed greatly afer Desert Storm.

Sounds like BS to me

Report him to POWNetwork.org!

They track down phonies and expose them on their wall of shame.

As opposed to a CIB without a wreath? hmmm

“Combat Field Medic’s Badge, with wreath”

again, as opposed to a CMB without a wreath?

“Senior Airborne Wings, with wreath”

well, I've got Master-Blasters with a wreath, but I guess I missed out by wearing Senior wings without one...damn it!

"Aircrewman Wings"

Now those I've seen!

“the Air Assault/Pathfinder Badge"

You mean they came together? Two badges in one?!
Crap, I knew it! All I got was that winged torch an' I could of got the winged torch stuck in the tail of a Huey! I've been cheated all these years!

Smells ... sniff sniff....like crap

The whole "with wreath" thing just sounds so weird. It's like the way a non-military person might try to describe awards. No one in the Army more than two pay periods would do that.

I think what really made the difference in the CDR's decision to send BCO was one hard MF'er that was a SAW gunner in 3rd squad 3rd Plt. He saw him and knew right away who to send. Big Grin
