your local Exchange will have a book..usually on one of those spinning thingies, either with the Atlases or in the book section.
there are also Directories for AMC flights, and resort/camping locations.
Space A lodging is typically done out of the BOQ/BEQ/CBQ office. Anywhere there are Barracks, there can be found Space A rooms. Plus of course any Navy Lodge or the equivalent.

Military Living does have information on the bases & what is available, phone #'s, etc... They are available online or in most Exchanges for you to purchase. It can really be helpful with Space A flying as well.
Space A lodging is winging it, you may or may not get a room, it is a discounted rate compared to hotels and is different in each location. Some places allow children, other places don't, etc...

To answer your question, "Space-A" means "Sapce Available." If a military lodging location thinks they will have some vacant rooms on any particular night then they will offer them up to non-duty visitors. To get a good listing check http://www.dodlodging.net
