Perhaps coincidence? What is known, is that Obama was born to a foreign national father who passed his (Sr.'s) British citizenship to his son (Jr.). Even IF Obama was born in HI, he was born a dual national (a citizen of two nations).

That a foreign company would host their site on servers based in the U.S. is nothing new. The NPR article can still be found here: "http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=95550177" (same link as above)

This thread is moved over here due to no real source for this claim. Just because a newspaper states something don't make it real. Please, no more of these threads, If you have a claim, post on one that is open. Dawg

You know damn well that this is NPR's website and that is their article. In fact you can go to their search and type "Trial and Triumph" and it will show up there. The full title is: "Trial and Triumph: Stories Out Of Africa. by Ofeibea Quist-Arcton. October 9, 2008."

That is correct. Just because a newspaper states something, like Obama's birth announcement, don't make it real. Regardless of whether you consider the term citizen equivalent to the term natural born citizen, historically Presidents and VPs (including Joe Biden) born after the adoption of our Constitution (1787) have met the classical interpretation of a NBC (a citizen born on US territory to two (2) US citizens. Historical affirmation of the NBC argument, John A. Bingham, chief architect of the 14th Amendments first section, considered the proposed national law on citizenship as simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents NOT owing allegiance to ANY foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. If this law was simply to reaffirm the common law doctrine then the condition of the parents would be totally irrelevant. Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." Many Americans, elected representatives, the courts, the media have committed a de facto reinterpretation of the Constitution to allow Mr. Obama to hold the office of the President despite his acknowledged dual citizenship. The Department of Education does not "lose" the records of one particular student. (So, who paid whom what sum to make this record disappear?) There would have been NO shameful low-test scores, NO embarrassing Equal Opportunity advancements, and NO trails of fraudulent funding to hide that could possibly "excuse" the quashing of public school Kindergarten entry records. For the rest of his life he attended very expensive private schools and has had his records legally sealed to deny the public his true life story. This is different. Hawaii should be able to verify he attended their school since he is featured in class photographs. State and federal tax dollars paid for his initial year of education. Why is there no documentation? This is the beginning of an intentionally erased life of a fraud and conman and it reeks of complicity by officials within the State of Hawaii's Dept. of Health and Dept. of Education.

Rove Knocks 'Birthers,' Says GOP Should Focus on 'Real Issues' Christopher Weber Correspondent Urging conservatives to focus on "real issues," Karl Rove said Republicans should speak out against those in the party who question whether President Obama is a citizen of the United States. The GOP strategist said whatever percentage of Republicans are so-called "birthers," it "ought to be less." He made the comments in an interview with Bill O'Reilly on Fox News, where Rove is a regular commentator. Related Stories Hawaii 'Birther' Bill Would Give Obama Records to Anyone -- for $100 New Hawaii Governor Wants to Put Obama Birther Debate 'to Rest' Presidential 'Birther' Bill Filed in Texas Legislature "Within our party, we've got to be very careful about allowing these people who are the birthers and the 9/11-deniers to get too high a profile and say too much without setting the record straight," Rove said. Birthers believe Obama is not native-born and therefore is ineligible to be president. Hawaii officials have repeatedly issued statements that Obama was born in the state and that the health department holds a copy of his original birth certificate. A copy of the document has been made available on the Internet. Rove compared the movement to fringe Republican groups in the 1950s like the John Birch Society, saying that "it took Bill Buckley standing up as a strong conservative and taking them on." Rove dismissed as "lousy" a recent Public Policy Polling survey that found that 51 percent of those likely to vote in a GOP primary doubted the president's citizenship. He suggested that Republican candidates could be hurt when asked about the birther question on a national stage such as during campaign debates. "If they'd step forward and say 'Look, we've got better things to talk about, then to fall into this trap that the White House has laid for us,' this issue will start to go away," Rove said. At least one prominent Republican and potential presidential candidate isn't ready to take Rove's advice. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), a tea party favorite, said Thursday she thought the president should be taken "at his word" about whether he was born in the U.S. -- but stopped short of saying that she believed he was a citizen. "Can you just state very clearly that President Obama is a Christian and he is a citizen of the United States?" George Stephanopoulos asked Bachmann on "Good Morning America." "Well that isn't for me to state, that is for the president to state," Bachmann replied.

I hope this is a non-issue. Obama was born in America. I have heard people bring up this topic a couple times around town. Why can't Bachmann finish her sentence and just admit it? And the final part: "Can you just state very clearly that President Obama is a Christian and he is a citizen of the United States?" George Stephanopoulos asked Bachmann on "Good Morning America." "Well that isn't for me to state, that is for the president to state," Bachmann replied. All those times when it has been addressed don't count? Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It's simple pandering. As long as she doesn't actually say she believes in it she won't lose the rational voters and as long as she doesn't deny it she won't lose the wingnut voters. It's a win/win for her.

Just curious, who might those be; besides the obviously irrational voters in her district who keep sending her back to Congress?

You nailed it. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN Citizens whom the media and political pundits dismiss as "birthers" have raised legitimate questions. That legitimacy is fueled by Obama's curious, even bizarre, refusal to consent to the release of the relevant records. Perhaps there is nothing to the issues raised. Or perhaps there is. This is potentially serious business. If it turns out that Obama knew he was ineligible when he campaigned and when he took the oath as President, it could be the biggest political fraud in the history of the world. As long as Obama refuses to disclose the records, speculation will grow and grow without any necessary relation to the truth. The first step toward resolving the issue is full discovery and disclosure of the facts. The courts are not the only entities empowered to deal with such a question. A committee of the House of Representatives could be authorized to conduct an investigation into the eligibility issue.
