I have to be honest here....something about this whole thing with Steve Fossett just "disappearing" off the face of the earth, has greatly bothered me since Day 1.

I happened to be watching CNN, the very minute the Breaking News came on announcing him missing. For whatever reason, I started recording all the Air Force Press Conference Updates when I could.

Some of the things that were said and the way they were said, by the Air Force Officials, on these daily News Press Conference updates, gave me the feeling that there is much, much more to this than what meets the eye.

None of this sits right with me...it just does not add up...call it a gut feeling...

What are your thoughts on this?

Are you sure it wasn't the Civil Air Patrol with their lack of experience in dealing with the media?

That's not what I'm saying. You need to go back and read what was written, outlaws93.

I do not believe in any of the conspiracy theories regarding the disappearance of Steve Fossett. All credible sources say he was the victim of nothing but a plane crash. It's only a matter of time before he and his wreckage are found.

What I was referring to was the Civil Air Patrol's lack of experience in dealing with the media and how that can lead someone to believe that something more is going on. Many Civil Air Patrol personnel often come across as acting more official than they really are, and this attitude is magnified when they are on camera.

Both, sir. The CAP was considered the lead SAR organization on the Fossett search, but the Air Force was also involved. Among other things, they made sure the CAP people didn't do anything stupid.

I don't know why CAP made such a big deal about the search... they never found Fossett.

One of these days. An ATVer or Horseback rider will come across him and his plane, smashed up in some low spot that can't be seen from the air.

Case closed.

He was flying around at low altitude in an area that is roughly a large triangle formed by Nellis AFB, Area 51 and the Utah Test and Training Ranges, where America's most interesting items are played with........

Let the conjecture begin.........

He was allowed into Area 51 to test fly one of the UFOs. Things went bad and he is now somewhere around Mars.

By the way - - I wasn't joking about the Nellis, Area 51, UTTR triangle. Ain't NOBODY allowed to play in that area - EVER!! If he flew through the wrong area, his name won't even appear in his old HS yearbook anymore - - Big Grin
