I found out recently that Barksdale was named for Lt.Eugene H Barksdale. His great grandpa Barksdale and my 4th great grandpa Barksdale were brothers. I will probably get a cussin now from you guys but I am an Army vet 2nd I.D. 4/9 E attached 4/152 E 25th I.D. 71 11 bush we walked or rode on a baby Huey or we didnt move. You fly fly boys had it made in the shade. Now that I made yall mad I will tell you my daddy was a proud WW 2 vet of the 8th U.S.Army Aircorps. The Mighty 8th dad called it. After he did his missions he had something to do with signal station/radar setup in France then Germany. He was on the way to the South Pacific when Japan got their a kicked..I probably wouldnt be writing this and you folks probably wouldnt be reading it if Harry Truman hadnt had the cohangus to lay waste to them. If anyone could tell me how to find a picture of Eugene Barksdale it would be appreciated. My daughter suggested that I put dad and my Army records on the living room wall. The more I thought about it I came up with puting every vet in our families history in a book I would like to write. With Eugene Barksdale picture up front.I was proud to learn an AFB was named for a member of my family.I would sure appreciate any help or advice you could give me in doing this.
