During 1973-1974 I was assigned to the US Taiwan Defense Command in Taipei, Taiwan. USTDC was a sub-unified command under PACCOM staffed by members of all four military services, with the Navy in charge. The Air Force contingent was under the 1131st USAF SAS in Hawaii for administrative support.
I hadn't had much luck finding information about the unit or its former location, so I started writing a blog -- sort of a retro-diary in this case -- about the organization, the people and life in Taipei during the 1970s. I was assigned to AFNT, Armed Forces Network Taiwan, from Nov. '66 to Feb. '68. We had Army, Navy & USAF personnel. A USN Lieutenant commanded.Our official assignment was to Taipei Air Station but we lived in the Navy hostel on Chung Shan Pei Lu.
