I went to (and am still at) Portsmouth, Va for my C school, but in July I go to my first real duty station which is San Diego. People in my class went all over the world though. Naples, Italy, Rota, Spain, Okinawa, Japan, Gitmo, Cuba, Bremerton, WA, and Bethesda, MD. I know I missed alot but those are just the first ones that come to mind.
For females the majority will go to San Diego, Bethesda, Portsmouth and Okinawa hospital. The males Camp pendelton, Camp Lejuene, or Okinawa. Occasionaly people will go to guam, cuba, spain,Italy, ect.
Cuba is a pretty good duty station from what I have been told. I think if you ask for it youll probably get it. Most people I know got TAD orders to cuba though. They were stationed out of Portsmouth Hospital.
After A school stayed at Balboa Hospital for a few months waiting on C School then went to Ft. Sam Houston, TX for Basic Lab, then on to Camp Johnson N.C. for FMSS, then to Camp Lejeune 2nd Fssg 2nd Med Bn, and 22nd MEU/SOC Mssg-22 all at Camp Lejeune, finally to NavHosp Millington TN right before the hospital was decommed. Wish I would have stayed at Camp Lejeune I enjoyed life on the greenside much more than blueside.
I turned down Iceland to get back to San Diego and I think I would have been happier had I taken the time to travel more and see more of the overseas areas the navy had to offer although at that point I was ready to get out. A cool overseas duty station might have changed my mind for me but it didnt happen and I ended up on my last 18 months, a stop loss and two deployments I did not want.
You get a wishlist, but its all about the needs of the navy at the time. Although if your the top person in your class they usually try to give you your choice of orders. Dont sweat the small stuff focus on your school.
