Does anyone know if you have to goto Marine Combat Training (MCT) school if you have ALREADY been through FMF? I read somewhere that all deployable sailors with marine combat units had to go through this school?

Ghost,
In My day- If you are assigned to a line unit and they go you USUALLY get to go. For anything smaller than the whole Battilon going for training who goes will be decided by the Chief & MO. Normally if in a line unit you go where they go, unless your needed at the BAS for another function. I trained all the way down to platoon level with my marines. Did what they did even got to teach for a few months in the regimental Small Unit Leadership Course (SULC) Don't know if they do that anymore, was great raining for Junior NCO's. So like everything in the FMF should be clear as MUD. When in doubt volunteer, there's always some pansy assigned who wants out. OOHRAH |

MCT is for non-infantry Marines prior to going to their MOS training. FMF is the Navy equivalent so no you don't go to MCT. You will go through training at Mojave Viper or Bridgeport depending on where your unit is deploying to and what type of unit. These trainings are unit trainings and as Dungie said you train with the unit.
