Are you talking about UTA's? If so the weekends are mostly up to the unit commander. My unit has a commanders call, a intell brief, and then you are free to take care of anything you need to as far training goes, CBTs, iso prep, ects. if your caught up on everything and theres nothing going on for the rest of the day you just hang out with your buddies. You are required to fly at least 1 sortie every 60 days which rarely happens on uta's.

The two AFSC's would have similar if not identical requirements for flying BTW.

And then there are other units that want more time out of you. I'm in FE school now, so I'm no expert on the subject, but I've been with an Air Guard flying unit since 12/2006, so I'll chime in...

Our guys pretty much fly once a week, or more if available (day or night flights...sometimes both back 2 back). In any case, not less than once a month unless it's been planned, for currency reasons on certain things. Often, the drill weekend is not when we fly, but when we take care of all the other associated BS and paperwork (and briefing, after briefing, after briefing, etc.). It's mid-week when the flying typically happens.

All depends on where you are looking to go. What airframe/mission are you looking at? You'll get a more focused response from the forum folks if you specify that.

I've heard if you don't fly once every 30 days you get pulled off flying status... Is that true?
