Yeah, but on Guam everything turns over every 2-5 years... friends, buttheads, management, butthead management, etc. Every time someone new comes in the back office, SOP's change. Gotta love it.

If Guam were still a 24 month accompanied tour, I'd probably ask my wife to look into getting back there. I don't know if I could spend another 3 years there, though, especially with all the Okinawa Marines and the bomber rotations. Too many drunk, horny or violent (possibly all at the same time) people to deal with. I have short tolerance for that, and I already got in trouble for it last time I was there. Don't need even MORE stupid people around...

well said but the butthead management and idiots are flooding in right now. that will unfortunately last for a while because most of them are accompanied. other than those two little problems and the attempts at lives with pallets this place really kicks ***. you are right about the time here. two years is plenty three is pushing it and four is not a good idea. you can only take so much of the rainy and dry seasons.

So I was informed recently that since I wouldnt be able to go to tech school within a year for Emergency Management that I would have to pick another AFSC. I picked 2t2. Ive worked for Delta Airlines on the ramp for the last 10 years, how different is it?

Somewhat. You will not throw nearly as many bags as you will for Delta. (unless deployed) But you will deal a lot more with cargo, and stuff like that than you did. It also greatly depends on what section you are working as well.

No such thing as a "rigger" school for the Air Force yet... It's an Army thing for now... Though we do have certified classes that properly train us... You have to go to the Army school for the rigger wings.

Being in APS, I highly doubt you'll get rigger certified. Most of those positions go to Pope and Fort Campbell. Or if you're lucky which is very very rare.

I went to the Joint Airdrop Inspector course at Ft Lee. Saw lots of AF 2T2's there going through rigger school. Just about any base that does airdrop will send people to the Army rigging school.

I am a 2t2 reservist who lives right outside of Fort Lee. Most of the AF people I see on base are 2t2's. So, some AF are getting to go to the Rigger school there.

Not us Canine... they bring an Air Force person in to teach our guys how to rig... It's kinda stupid IMO..

Little Rock is one of the largest AD sections in the Air Force.... yet we're not "qualified" by Army standards.

Cheese: Update me on how things are done now. Is Ft. Lee open again? I want to say the AF closed shop there about four or five years ago. I thought we were sending people (well, we WERE, anyway) to Altus or Tinker or somewhere in OK for the new AF school (not Army certified, so no wings) not so long ago? Guess that has changed?

As I explained to LRSDRANGER, you only get to wear the wings if certified through some joint-venture with the Army. Are the instructors coming in red hats at Ft. Lee (if it's open again)? If so, is it the full FADLC curriculum that is/was taught up there? I find it funny that we are sending less and less people for training when more and more of our tasking liner notes require rigging experience...

*EDIT* Oh, and in terms of sheer volume and numbers, Little Rock IS the largest Aerial Delivery section in the Air Force. I'm just sayin'... Wink

Hey I'm in Tech School for 2T2, was wondering how it is possible to get stationed in Andrews AFB. Right now I'm hoping to get stationed at Dover, but I heard you need to wait around a year before you can apply to be stationed at Andrews.

Thanks for any assistance!

Port Dawgs!

Hey folks, It's amazing that nothing changes in this AFSC. I was in it when it was known as 60551 and I served between 1966-70, at McGuire, Danang and Kelly AFB. However, it seems that you guys really like the job. I was NCO-IC in various slots and I liked traffic analysis the most. That was tracking air cargo and preparing reports for the base commander. One job that we couldn't get was as a recruiter (I guess the brass didn't want us to tell the truth to new recruits.) Is that still the case?
