I'm going into the AF Reserves and my job is going to be Air Transportation. Do they typically get deployed? More so than other jobs? Or do most people volunteer to go?

2T2's are currently on Tempo Band D, which means we deploy for 6 months and come back for a year. Reserves are different of course, and depends on the mission for each unit. I've heard recently that they are going to start pulling the reserves more to ease the active duty side, where we are hurting and there has been talk to moving us to 6 months deployed, 6 months back. That is a lot of deployed.

Expect to be deployed, we are one of the highest demanded jobs in the Air Force, so we are always deployed. Iraq/Afghanistan and Al Udeid are big ones for us. But also little places, like Djibouti, Manas in Kyrgyzstan (spelling?). Any weird place that you send Cargo to via Air Force, there are Aerial Porters there waiting.

KK thanks!! Now can they send only children to Iraq/Afghanistan? Even if I'm a chick or does that just apply to men because of carrying on the family name?

????? Confused

According to Erik Erikson's stages of human development, first enumerated in Childhood and Society (1950), a young adult is generally a person between the ages of 19 and 40, whereas an adolescent is a person between the ages of 12 and 18.

Last time I checked the transition from adolescent teenager to consenting young adult as far as serving a military obligation is age 18. And yes, I’m aware a high school graduate or High School senior with parental consent can enlist and report to BMT at age 17.

You may be a child chick, but if you are serving a military obligation you are at least 17 years old and you are a deployable human resource once you are awarded a 3-skill level AFSC.

Many women are choosing to retain their birth surname in marriage or adopt a hyphenated born with- and married into surname. Surname/family name has noting to do with ready to deploy status or classification anyway.

Please tell me you are kidding! I am an only son and a 2T2. Please dont come to this AFSC if you are already asking questions like this. We dont need someone who thinks she is special or shakes her rear end and bats her eyelashed to get out of working. I make my female 2T2's work just as hard as the guys.
