It all depends... Boom is mainly for refeuling purposes and a loadmaster is mainly cargo passenger. Although a boom does handle passengers/cargo but not nearly as much as a loadmaster.
Ask a boom what it's like to do a tactical decent, combat landing, low level (like 300') flights, combat offloads, 3 point turns on a 90' runway, and air drops. See what they say, if anything!
I may not know about combat landings and all that, but I do know about watching a C-5 come into contact and not stop until I had to call a breakaway. I am not saying my job is more stressful than a loadmasters. I am saying that we all take risks and all do our own thing. Plus with a three man crew up in the cockpit, there is a lot of responsibility.Oh yeah, we do combat decents. Don't forget, No one kicks a** without tanker gas. Remeber that when you coming up to a Tanker for fuel.

Not a whole lot inflight, maybee some paperwork, a couple cargo checks and scans, unless something goes wrong, which then the job can get busy. Most of the job is done while on the ground.
How about an MC-130 load. We haul cargo and refuel helo's. That is the short list. One more thing to add to the list of loadmaster jobs in flight...not get shot. The war must be pretty comfy from 35,000 feet.

boom and loadmaster is the same thing. it just depends on the jet. like a loadmaster on a kc 135 is a boom operator. that is the only person that operates the boom. there isnt a separate career field

lol, you must be a new load if you think a lot of those things get done operational. I have yet to meet anyone who has actually done a combat offload or a star turn. I would say a boom has more responsibility than a load for the most part, they are directing two planes maybe 100 feet apart, 10k feet in the air. Very very cool job. But, not the per diem whore the loadmaster is. And don't start with the weight and balance thing, you'd have to try to get the 17 out of limits.
Dapper, lmao, ol' pal do you even know anyone in that AFSC? Better yet, do you even work in the same area of the base? Hmm...oh well anyways, I know plenty of cool booms who love thier jobs and some fly those low-levels but that's another story. It's still a NKAWTG thing. I got love for loadmasters too though. I've seen them work in less than favorable conditions, luckily they had NVG's. I know I didn't and it sucked... I was all over that cargo area until I could make my way to the front to bum a pair of goggles.
