is it possible to obtain information on companies/regiments from world war I? i am researching an uncle who died in WWI, I saw the muster roll calls and have the company he was in as well as the date of death. his father died in Spanish American War, which gives its own challenges!

American Expeditionary Force units generally were well documented. Google is a good place to commence non-specialist research. Enter your uncle's regiment and follow the results. If you want more help on this Forum, however, you need to identify his name, unit, date of death, and any other relevant information you may have.

The American KIA from WW1 were published in a three volume set. They were listed by state with many photos.

Soldiers of the Great War. Soldiers Record Publishing Association. 1920 complied by W. M. Haulsee F. G. Howe A. C. Doyle

They are often found in Public Libraries but their condition/age often make them reference only (can't check them out), I have volume 2 Mass. - Ohio.
