Hi all, My name is Siobhan (pron. "sho-vahn"). I'm 38 and presently finalizing paperwork before my enlistment with the Maryland Army National Guard as an MP. I passed the ASVAB with a 70. The recruiter was happy with that number...I will go to Fort Leonardwood, Missouri sometime this summer/fall. It will be 9 weeks basic training and 8 weeks AIT (so I was told). 17 weeks away from my family (I'm married with kids). I just wanted to introduce myself and see if I can find somebody in a similar situation in my area.I also want to find out what is done at basic training in terms of physical activities/PT and what the MP training will be like. Greetings to all of you. Siobhan http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g296/ThreeSetsOfTwins/policeshirt1.jpg
The good thing for you is that you are older and the numbers are lower for the rep's you have to complete. If you are in good shape before you go there you shouldn't have a problem. Be ready to do numerous rep's of push-ups, sit-ups and running at various speeds. I live in VA and have been through the MP training, be it many years ago now. I'm 34 and I don't think Army PT is that hard/difficult. Train using the pyramid system. Good luck!
Hi. I'm 38/female from long island and I am trying to join the army. Its something I've always wanted but started a family really young. Now that my kids are bigger I am able to do it. I am worried about boot camp. Dose anyone know what its like for someone my age?
It's great being a 31B. AIT will be alot more fun then BCT but stick it through. I am no where near your age but it all depends on your motivation and your will. In our CO we had young females drop out not because it was tough but b/c they missed there family. Thats the hardest part. Just push through my 19 weeks went by fast and now I miss it wanna go back. Good Luck
