Can anyone help me or guide me in the right direction? I enlisted in Arknsas, after AIT my family & I moved to Texas, I did 2 more drills in Ar. & joined my unit, While getting preped for deployment, I was told that my deployment would be put on hold until I transferred to TX & join my new unit. I was given all the contact #'s I needed to get the ball rolling. I have been calling these #'s for almost 4 months & I can't seem to get in touch with anyone, I leave messages and they are never returned. The one time I did get in touch with someone they told me the papers have been lost on the Ar. end & they would send them through again and if I didn't hear anything I should go to a recrutiers office and speak to one of them about getting transferred. Can a recrutier help me? Does it usually take this long? What can I do to move this along? Any advise?
I'm a bit confused on just what you did and didn't do yet in the Interstate Transfer (IST) process. Did you sign an NGB 22-5 either in AR or TX? If yes, then use the listed TX unit info on the 22-5 and give your new unit a call. If no, then it sounds like you were left to figure it out on your own. Here is what you should do now: - Call your AR unit to see what they know about your status. By now they are probably wondering what became of you and may have concluded that you don't care to be in the guard anymore and have started an AWOL discharge on you; - Google TXARNG, then click the Interstate Transfer link on the left which will bring up 3 IST contact names, phone numbers and emails. Call each number every day until you get a response. Also send an email that contains your contact phone # and address to all 3 of them. Using your address, they will decide which will respond to you and as long as AR hasn't AWOL discharged you and you cleared the unit there, you'll be on your way. Because a substantial amount of time has passed since you last drilled, don't be wishy-washy about getting going on this. If you were paid any bonus and AR put you out, you will have to pay back pretty much all of what you were paid (it will be taken out of your future federal tax returns until all is paid back). Good luck; cul8r.
