I heard that when you are in the military and are a permanent resident it'll help you become a citizen sooner than just being a regular civilian. Does that apply for the guard or reserve as well? Thanks for any help!
You can apply to become a Citizen (form N-400) only after you complete BCT and AIT. The process is expedited so it is indeed faster. Depending on how you became a permanent resident, your time to apply for citizenship may be earlier than the time you complete training, but you should still do it through the Guard because the fee is waived ($495).
