Met with the recruiter Tuesday night. I am planning to go 09S from the start.

I have a concern though. When I was about 19-20, I got Cat Scratch Fever. The doctor removed a couple of lymph nodes (groin and underarm) to be sure it wasn't lymphoma. Underarm scar is invisible. Groin scar is visible, if you are really looking for it. About 1-1/2" long, white (no longer pink, it was 20 years ago).

I contacted the hospital where I had the outpatient surgery done. They have no records of me being there (again, this was 20 years back). I don't know what to do. Recruiter is concerned that if I have no pre/post-op reports to show it's no problem, I will get DQ'd. He said I could apply for a waiver, but as I have no proof of the diagnosis, date, the fact there have been no complications, he is worried they will just DQ me.

Before I found out the medical records were not available, he had suggested not bringing it up, as it's not real noticeable, and has given me zero problems in 20 years.

I just worry that the doctor will be "looking around" while doing the "turn your head and cough" and notice it. Integrity being one of the seven core values, I thought of going to a local doc and getting them to write up something to say I'm good to go. However, they would have nothing to go on, aside from my word that
    it was cat scratch fever
  • it was about 20 years ago
  • it has given me zero problems since then

I just hate the idea of possibly being DQ'd for something which is a total non-issue, simply because the hospital has no records, nor do I.

Suggestions?

At a minimum you should request your records in writing and get your response from the provider in writing that they destroy records more than xx years old. This will explain why no records. You may be required to provide a negative test for the infection if MEPS requests such.
