I'm currently enlisted Air National Guard in the 1C3 career field. I am finishing up my last year of my BS Degree and plan on comisssioning back into either the ANG or active duty Air Force. I'm very interested in the AF's new UAV career field, but I have no idea how to go about getting into it. Is anyone in this field? How do you become a UAV pilot? I know they were using non-rated officers. Any information on this career field would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nicole,
There are UAV ANG units in 4 states so far 163 RW (196 RS) CA ANG MQ-1B Riverside, March AFB 214 RG (214 RS) AZ ANG MQ-1B Davis-Monthan AFB 174 RW (138RS?) NY ANG Syracuse, Hancock Field 147 RW (147RS) TX ANG Houston, Ellington Field I know various units are hiring; however, I am not familiar with their requirements for pilots or systems operators. Their AGR & Technician jobs are normally posted on the USAJOBS website and the unit recruiters have information on their specific Traditional slots. I would recommend contacting the units directly for their requirements and availability. Good Luck to you! |
