Just wondering what the poop is on old retired farts, <50yrs old, getting back in... Sure, it would take a waiver - are they being issued? Are they only taking MOSQ'd? or are they thumbing their nose at the experienced soldier?
It will be tuff and depends on so many things and also depends on your state. Recruiting has been slowed dramatically over the past several months because the ARNG as a whole has exceeded their end strength. It's not that the ARNG would be thumbing their noses at you, their being restricted on who can enlist. If your MOS is critical, you stand a better chance than one that is overstrength. If you have "any" issues at all, medical; moral, etc, forget about it. Waivers are very "few and far" in between. You wouldn't need a waiver if you're good to go and have no issues. First thing you need to do is get in touch with someone on the Recruiting Command within your state. Then if it's positive news you must contact St. Louis and request to come out of the RR and placed into the IRR so you can be brought out and enlisted. They can not bring you directly out out of the RR to the ARNG. Good luck.
It is an NGB level waiver and requires final approval from HRC, St Louis. State AG must approve/recommend; can not be over 55 years old; must pass MEPS physical w/o waiver; and must transfer from Retired Reserve to IRR in order to be in an enlistment eligible status. Good luck; cul8r.
Thanks for the information. I fugured the waiver was more to come out of the RR, full honorable discharge, no medical, moral, mental issues, also probably conditional on passing the MEPS physical. I wasn't aware of coming out of the RR to the IRR issue. Would they be more lible to transger to the retired individual augmentee program or just to the IRR? I know that was a possible choice during the retirement process... that ticked me off, they shoved it down our throat to decide right then and there to retire out, to the RR or to the retired IMA. Again, cool beans, and thanks for the info. Out here.
if you have done less than 20 years and can pass meps stuff you can get back in if you can do 20 before retierment age im 49 and am workin on it myself if recruters ever bother callin me back
I knew a MS-ARNG soldier who retired as a SFC, decided he wasnt done yet, came back in to gain more points. Was reduced to SGT. But he still will get E7 retirement.
I have heard of this with others as well. be prepared to be lowered to SGT.
Being a -5 would open a lot of doors for training, high speed stuff like squad designated marksman, Small Arms Range Operators Course, even sniper if you were so willing... the nice thing about having been a -7 before is that you still face the promotion boards/STPA and have the points to be high on the list, as with me, I will have finished my bachelors degree and am maxed on awards, correspondence, residence, high on time in service, will be maxed on civilian ed, just leaves PT, Time in grade, weapons qual, and leadership eval... if it was just 50 for wpns, 10 for tig, and 50 for PT that would make a base score of 470 before the eval... move up quick if so desired....
