You would be assigned to a unit that is not deploying. However, it's still possible for you to be deployed; it depends on what the unit's strength looks like & what the commander is willing to do.
A commander can take a non-MOSQ soldier on deployment if they believe the soldier can do the job and the MOB station commander buys off on it. Or, you can be dropped into the next 88M class (which is a 6 week course); then you MOB prep with any unit going thru the MOB station at that time after which you are sent off to join your unit in theater. Now that all Army deployments are 15 months boots-on-ground it makes having a late arrival a more enticing option to a unit commander.
You may want to see your unit commander on how his deployable strength is looking. Good luck, cul8r.

When my unit was deployed to Afghanistan they pulled all the soldiers who were not MOS qualified in my unit when we were at the MOB station and they were sent through a quick MOS course and they deployed and hooked up with us a couple weeks after we were in country.

There are several units in the Alabama Army National Guard like the 31st Chemical BDE that were activated and the entire unit were sent through a really fast MP course and sent to Afghanistan as MP's.

You can still go with youre unit and get quald anyway. will be kinda like OJT. On our last deployment we were under strenth and had to pull alot of crossover's and what we did with them was when we got to MOB we took them out gave them a sort of quick run over of the truck's and then road tested and gave them their license. It's all done within the unit so as long as youre a half way comp person and not a real dumbass you will be quald and license.

Just because you are not MOSQ dosen't mean you cannot deploy. Most units are not going doing MOS related missions.
