I'm planning on moving the middle of this month. I have a paragraph and line number from a unit in the state I'm moving to. Is it possible for my current unit to deny my IST request? The reason I ask is becuase my Battalion Commander is denying any instate transfers becuase our numbers are so low, no one has tried to interstate before. I also heard that you don't have to go through you Batt CO. Just through your Admin NCO at the CO level, then he'll coordinate with the state IST NCO. If anybody can clear this up, this would be great. I don't see how they can make you stay in a state, considering someone gets transfered for a job or something of that nature. Thank you for your help!

If KS is like NJ, your request to IST will go thru channels to get to the state IST coordinator.
If you're moving for love or money, no commander will stand in the way of you remaining in the NG family in another state.
