Does anyone have any advice about requesting going from National Guard to Active Army?

I will have a year in the CA Guard this August and have began working on my 368 to transfer

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

This is how it is being handled at my Company. Find out either from the full time staff or CoC the command policy then have your active duty recruiter fillout the 368 and/or the 4187. Have your chain of command (TL SL PS etc) approve it. Submit the request along with a letter explaining the reason you want/desire to switch to the active component.

I cannot speak for CA but in Michigan after it goes to the Battallion commander it goes up to the Command level and the 2 star has to approve it. With the economy (thanks Jenny Granholm) being so bad here not many are being disapproved.

Make sure you have your paperwork in order and know the policy (local and command level) and be patient. It takes awhile for it to move up the chain. Good luck.
