What's the average wait time on getting a response from the NGB on waivers?
I'm returning to uniform (and switching to GA ARNG) after retiring from the AF Reserve in May 06. I passed my physical and the 368 was received quickly. I've had 2 different bird Colonel CO's say they'd take me into their units as an SFC. How long can it possibly take to look at a complete packet and say YES or NO? My recruiter says she's checking with the NGB weekly - and I'm not questing her integrity at all - but in my experience its the weekly phone call that eventually ticks off someone and gets the job done. My frustration is building...
SFC, I had a waiver for an re3 and it took almost 8 months once it was sent up (it was sent up in January). i just reenlisted a few weeks ago, and when I looked at the actual waiver, it looked like the approval date was in Febuary, but i was told it wasn't approved until July. I did the same as you and called every week. I don't think it helped the situation, but it can take a while. Sorry I cannot give you any more advice, but it can take a while.
I am currently joining the Georgia Army National Guard and had to get a waiver sent to NGB and it came back approved in about a month. I also called my recruiter every week to check on the status. I decided I wasn't going to call anymore after week 3 and just waited on her to call me. She eventually called on the 4th week with some exciting news. All I can say is be patient and hope for the best outcome.
Hey there Devildog- I'm prior Corps as well. I needed a waiver to get into the Guard due to some indiscretions back in 97. Young Marines do dumb things while on active duty do they not? Anyway a good way to hurry a waiver is your State Representative or Councilman. I made a call to my State Rep and visited him as well. He made a call to the State Adjutant and it went through in a couple days. It wasn't a bad call down to the State Capitol or anything, more like a "hey I have a constituent here waiting on some paperwork can it get moved along?" These State Reps have a lot of pull in your state capitol and a lot of times they now the Governors liason anyway. Worth a shot.
