Can anyone give me some insight on the Guard's version of OCS - I'll be finishing school in less than a year and am looking to commission, just wondering how it compares to BMT. Thanks.

AMS is transferring to ANGOT (Air National Guard Officer Training) - however I believe it is remaining a 6 week accession.

I can't give you any feedback as far as BMT - as I was non-prior coming in.

That said, from what others have said, they are both difficult but in different ways. At BMT, everything is spoon fed to you - follow orders, don't step out of line, uniformity.

AMS is about leadership training. They want you to step out, don't be afraid to try new things and make mistakes. It completely sucks when you do, but in the end, that's what they're looking for.

The first 2 weeks SUCK! I mean, REALLY SUCK! However, I'm of a mind that you can put up with just about anything for 2 little weeks. After that, it's not a walk in the park, but it becomes significantly easier. Weeks 3-6 are more mentally taxing than physically.

Overall it is simply a game of time management. They will give you a million of little tasks that must be done each day. However, most of them don't have any sway over your ability to succeed. The important things, the things that will actually get you kicked out, are academics and pt. So when you're supposed to study for a test, they will make you standardize your room, clean the heck out of everything, and do everything possible to divert you from what's important. It's a test on how well you can manage and adapt to the stress.

There are a couple good websites that document the process fairly accurately - I'll try to find those and post for you use.
