I have searched for a definitive answer, but I know there isn't one. Any opinion is welcome. My situation is I'm in a four year college, not ROTC, and wish to join the Air Force or guard in some respect. I think I'm leaning toward law school and would like to get that done as soon as permissible. e.g. go straight from undergrad to grad because I hate school and if I take a year off I won't go. But my passion is also flying. If I join the ANG in the state of my law school, will they let me try to be a pilot, or point me to a law related job?
If you want to fly, the ANG will let you apply for a pilot slot. Just because you have a law degree does not mean the ANG will force you into a law career field. We have pilots in my guard unit who have private law practices in the civilian world. Contact your local guard unit and ask when the next pilot selection board will be.
