I read somewhere that 2 or 3 years ago the ARNG was sending prior service enlistees to state run 11b schools, instead of AIT at Benning. Anyone have any info on this? Are units still doing this and who qualifies?
The are Reserve Component configured courses for 11B MOSQ that a run at several sites around the country. You can search for yourself here: https://www.atrrs.army.mil/atrrscc/. For Fiscal Year select 2010; for Enlisted MOS select 11B. click on the courses titled 071-11B10(R) for more detail. Everyone can go that is not required to go to the Benning school, and of course I do not know who that may be. But, I'm sure that your local NG infantry unit knows as they probably send folks somewhat regularly. Good luck; cul8r.
Website is down for maintenance...but I'll keep trying.
I'm prior service AF Security Forces, I know will have to attend WTC. I don't know if I qualify for Reserve configured 11B MOSQ course, but I'll definitely bring up this info to my recruiter/unit.
Thanks for the reply. However, I had my first sit down with my recruiter and he told me the Guard is only accepting prior service into an MOS that can transition over. So its MP for me for a year (under try one), then hopefully a transfer to my local 11B unit.
It was pretty cool. They aren't all in you face. They only mess with you if you screw up. Our platoon screwed up a couple times and we had to carry this heavy ass rock around. It was good though.
Well, hopefully my try one goes by fast and I can transfer over. Wish I could just go straight 11B, but everything happens for a reason I guess...either way I'll try to avoid the "big ass rock" when I get there...
