Hello, I am in the ANG and I enjoy it. I have not left for BMT yet but I go to the weekend drills and it was the right choice. However, both my parents literally just got laid off their part-time jobs. They are older and I stay home and help take care of them. But now with no jobs for them I'm conflicted. I get paid a lot more as a civilian and the ANG pay won't suffice at all for basic living for the 3 of us. I'm not sure what steps I can take or what to expect if I tell the recruiter this. I don't want to not go to BMT but it may be the only option, even if it comes with punishment. This is a serious question, I am not some kid looking to get out who is scared. I am a responsible adult trying to think through my options. Thanks for your input and suggestions.

Both your Parents can collect Unemployment. Your BMT isn't but a few months. WHat is the problem financially?

There unemployment will be minimal because of the hours they work but yes they can still receive it. Without divulging all my financial details I make 3x as much as a civilian as in ANG and now with the other income gone the pay will not be enough for the mortgage for starters. You are correct, BMT is only 2 months, but I have my Tech school after that and that's where it will really hit hard.
