Hi everybody,

So, as some of you know, I'm just a couple of months into my new Guard contract after being on Active Duty for a while.

Just a quick question, and really it's no big deal either way:

I am a medic in the Guard, and the Guard is allowing me to conduct my recertification requirements for my EMT through a National Guard program, on a post, over 5 days. I go in a couple of weeks.

I'll find out soon enough, but I'm sitting here being bored and just wondering if I get paid for it. I think I do, because it's Guard time, and I'll be away overnight for 5 days. Also, it's required that I do this recertification, or else it's explicitly stated that I will lose my MOS if I allow my EMT license to expire without recertifying.

I think it's cool enough that I don't have to pay to do the recertification; getting paid to be there would just be a bonus.

What I'm trying to get at is the underlying principle. For all such things like this, do soldiers get paid? This will not count toward my two-week AT, it's just something the Guard is offering to help make sure that I don't lose my MOS.

Any response is welcome, and thanks,
gary

Well, to the extent that anyone's interested in this one, I haven't figured it out yet. I'm just gonna wait till I go and I'll see.

I'm leaning toward it not being a paid time, because I haven't been cut any orders for it.

So, if it is, it'll be a nice unexpected addition. Otherwise, like I said, it's cool that they even have this set up for us to go to.

I'll consider this thread closed for my purposes.
