Hey everyone,

I am thinking about transitioning to the National Guard. I had a buddy that was telling that if your a full-time student with a certain GPA they won't deploy you in the national guard? Any truth to that? If so does anyone know the GPA level needed? Thanks

Uh no. It's not true. You are non deployable if you are in ROTC in college though.

Your buddy may have been referring to the Collge First Option which will not deploy you during the first 24 months of your enlistment. But this is only available to Non-Prior Service enlistments.
Some states offer a stabilization policy which will exempt you from deployments for a set period of time after if enlist with them. Your post Reserve Component Career Counselor has more info. Give them a visit (it's an office you must clear when you ETS anyway); cul8r.

Yeah but I have never heard of a GPA requirement for college first.
