Perhaps I can help you understand why one cannot enlist while on informal probation. Although the probation may be informal (also know as 'unsupervised') your charges are still open with the court until the judge terminates the probation (hopefully for successful completion of all conditions). In other words, the court still has legal rights to you & your whereabouts. The military will not touch anyone that has such legal requirements on them; military service does not supersede unfulfilled criminal court condition requirements. Also, the Army clearly acknowledges that it is not to be seen/used as a rehabilitation institution to applicants. Hope this added some clarity for you; cul8r.
