hello..i was wondering how to get a tech job,i have had an interview(which i thought went well)for materials handler, but got my turn down letter, the letter said to call them if i wanted to discuss it further,so i did,and he said there is going to be 2 more positions in oct and to apply,so what do i do different, here s the deal,i m 88m in the army national guard,so maybe i need to reclass as 92y or 92a?any suggestions would be great, thanks
Don't give up!! They may have given the job to someone they knew and who may not have been as qualified as you are or who may not have done as well on the interview. I have been on an AGR tour before and all I can say is just because you did not get this job does not have any bearing on your interview or your abilities. Don't give up and if this is what you want then keep applying, sooner or later you will be selected.
hello..thanks for the reply.also i forgot to mention i have worked in a foodservice warehouse for 19 years, forklift operater, plus everything from a selector to night shift boss,so i have experience and lots of it,i re-enisted in the guard in 2006 dec,so i decided to finish out working with the guard(im 42)so with better benefits, better retirement, and better pay,its all worth it to me,plus get to wear my uniform(proud)i know i got to keep trying,,again thanks
Do you know anyone that was on the board that interviewed you? One option is to go talk to them and ask them how they thought your interview went and was there anything you could do to improve yourself for the next time they interview for a slot.
i dont think they are on the boards, but i have talked to one of the three that interviewed on the phone and he said for me to apply for the 2 new positions, plus i got a new reference to put on my application,i think if you get your name in there a few times and have some experience, theres still a chance..again thanks

Yep, the KSA's are the money page. Also, if you're not MOS q'd, I think they'll give you 1 year to reclass. In the guard, you should be able to do that locally as well.
KSA= knowledge, skills, abilities. It'll be a page in paragraph form stating equipment you know how to use, and abilities/skills you have(like welding, electronics diagnostics, etc.)
Be sure to include a copy of your resume with your JVA submission, and any schooling/certifications you have.
