I have been trying to reInlist in to the ARNG. I was waiting for a wavier for my discharge codes on i should have heard something on April 3rd 2009 in steed i resived this e-mail from my recurter
"Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: FOUO MEMORANDUM FOR the Recruiting & Retention Force of all States, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, Guam and the District of Columbia. Subject: Suspension of Medical Waivers 1. There were over a thousand medical waivers processed during the month of March 2009. In keeping the ARNG in line with mandated reductions in end strength it has become necessary to suspend processing medical waivers effective 2 April 2009. 2. Applicants with previously approved medical waivers will not be allowed to enlist until we reach the targeted end strength objective." I have been through meps and i wouldnt have to go through BCT I have sent a letter to all congress reps in my state of CA this is the letter i sent Dear Sir or Madam, My name is William Randy Doolittle, I am prior service United States Air Force Rank of Airman First Class (E-3) I graduated high school in June of 2006. I shipped out for BMT (Basic Military Training) three days after i graduated. I completed BMT and my Technical Training. I was then shipped off to Charleston AFB in South Carolina. My AFSC (Air Force specialty Code) was 2T337 Vehicle Management and Analysis. My life's ambition was to be a career military soldier. This is where my plans drastically changed. Allow me to give you a brief description of my childhood life. I was adopted at the age of three, My adoptive parents home schooled me since the age of five. We grew up on a secluded farm. My only real social influences where my parents whom I am very close to. While stationed in S.C I started receiving phone calls from my mother. She was pleading with me to come home as a resulted of there depleting health. These call where a daily issue, they would call in the middle of the night in tears. Telling me that there lives where being severely damaged by my absence. They guilt that I felt for leaving my family all alone was to much for me. I needed to go home! I went to my First Sargent, told him what my situation was and he agreed to help me out in anyway he could. We started filling for a Hardship discharge which I found out would take up to two years. A counselor told me he could get me out quicker on a mental health discharge, I was told I would have no problems reenlisting. I went home but I could never adjust to the civilian life style. I felt that I deserted my country. I settled things with my parents and moved to California. After being away from my parents with no issues, I was confident to reenlist. I started talking to an Air Force recruiter. I was told with my discharge code he could not process me. This is the same thing that the Army, Army Reserve, Navy and Marines told me. I was at my wits end with only one more call to make to the Army National Guard. I found a recruiter SFC Jeffery Hairs who stated that he could process me with no major problems. Things where looking up for me. I was processed through MEPS (military entrance processing station) all that I needed was my waver for my discharge. My waive was put in for review several weeks ago. I got a phone call today stating that no one who needed waivers was being accepted into the Army National Gaurd. I am devastated. I asked my recruiter if there was any way of reenlisting. He told me the only option was to appeal my DD 214 discharge paperwork. I am in the process of doing that also. I feel that I would be an asset to the military. My main goal is to be career military. I don't regret leaving the military for the reasons that I did. I do how ever regret not researching my discharge codes and believing what I was told, when they said reenlisting would not be a problem. I love this country and all it stands for. I am writing this letter to you as a last resort. I am pleading with you to allow me the honer and the privilege to serve this great country that I live in. If there is any way that you can asset me I would greatly appreciate it. Yours sincerely, William Randy Doolittle P.S I did not mention my discharge is Honorable I do not have a Dishonorable discharge im hopeing some one will stand up and lend me a hand im now looking to send it to the govener and possblie Secritary of Deffence its all a long shot but if i stir the pot enough i might have a shot. If there is anything else some one can think off that would help my case pls share it with me.. Thanks for your help |

No offense, but if you are sending a letter with all of those grammatical errors to your State Reps they are probably just going to laugh at you. Try using spell check next time. Just some constructive criticism.

The long and the short of it is that you were willing to accept a discharge which made it difficult if not impossible to come back in.
You will have to be patient now that the Guard is overstrength. It will be 1-2 years before the end-strength allows the Guard to start accepting people with waivers again. If you can get the RE Code on you DD214 reduced it will definitely improve your chances. YOu could also join the state military Reserves (SMRs) and serve with them on a volunteer basis until a window of opportunity opens up for you again. MAJ Hoskinson |
