I have posted tis issue in other areas of this website as well but I want to make sure I can get an accurate response so here's my issue. I enlisted into the Air Force Reserves and I am scheduled to go to BMT next month but I have a problem. I have a surgery I need to get (Ganglion Cyst removal of the right wrist) on monday. I know it will definately push my BMT date back but my recruiter told me that if I get the surgery, I will have to wait and come back to the recruiting office in 1 year (A full 365 days from the date of my surgery) and try to get my career going at that time. Does anybody know if this is accurate? If so, could I change branches and go another route as soon as I am done rehabing or will this surgery temp. DQ me from all branches? I am 23 years old (24 in Feb) and don't want to wait any longer than I have to to get a military career established so if I can go to another branch sooner than a year I am certainly considering that option. Thanx for the help!!!
