I am currently in the ARNG as a 31B looking to get into my college's ROTC program, the SFC that I spoke to (who is also my recruiter) told me I cannot be a 31B if I wanted to become an Officer that I would have to change it to 35(MI). Does anyone know if this is true I looked up Reserves and Active the info says you can. Thanks

You may be in the ROTC either as an SMP (common) or not (rare), it's your choice. Your current MOS does not matter to enter the ROTC program as your comissioned branch will be decided by the needs of the service, although you do fill out a 'dream sheet'. Good luck; cul8r.

What he probably meant to tell you is that officers and enlisted personnel have different MOS's. If you enlist as one MOS, you will commission differently. You may get the same branch, but your MOS and overall job will be different.
