Hi, I'm prior service, less than 5 years of service active duty in the Army. I have just recently heard about this Try One Program the national guard has but after googling it, can't seem to find any info that isn't just basic FAQ style answers for what it is. Can anybody out there explain to me the specifics of this program.

Thanks!

yep it is pretty simple you enlist for one year. If you like it you can reenlist, if not then you ETS.

Age restrictions are per current NGB guidance below:
- Effective 23 MAR 09, Applicants 35 years of age or older must have at least one year of prior qualifying service plus the number of years the applicant is over 35. See AR 135-180, chapter 2, for qualifying service. Waivers beyond this are not authorized.
- Enlisted Soldiers must be MOS qualified and entering a valid unit vacancy. No re-class or waivers are authorized.
Otherwise program is as straight-forward as airMP states. I do, however, recommend you contact a NG recruiter directly as your current status/specifics will probably have more of an effect on your eligibility to enlist than the Try One rules.
