Okay, so I am newly divorcing and relocating to another state. I have been finding great technician jobs available with local units on USAJobs, but of course, I must join the NG, which I don't have a problem with. My question is, because I have a master's degree and am close to completing my CPA, should I even look at these positions, or just go ahead and do OCS and then try for active guard? I just turned 30 this year, so I think this is the last year before I need a waiver if not already. I would also welcome having my $20k of grad school loans paid.

I don't have a problem going away for training, and would actually welcome it. I was a navy brat growing up and active duty spouse, so military life is not new, I would just prefer to stay in my home state as opposed to active army and being stationed who-knows-where right off the bat.

Any suggestions, thoughts, experiences? Thanks in advance!

Tech jobs are really good jobs to have as they give you federal retirement time. If you enlist in MOS that is listed as vacancy for tech job in your state that is demand with your education I am sure you could get admin or human resources type positions. If you enlist make sure you use college credit for rank, you can get E-4 specialist with your education.
