I recently joined the Kentucky ARNG. I have not been to any drills or any kind of training whatsoever. Now however, I would like to go active duty in the Army. Having already made the stupid mistake of signing a contract with the guard which has no DEP program, what are my options? I have read about getting an uncharacterized discharge with reason of entry level performance and conduct by not showing up to any of my drills or by refusing to ship to basic training. Is this an option? If so, what kind of limitations will I have when trying to enlist into the army? Will there be any sort of legal repercussions? My first rsp drill is this weekend and I'm torn about what I should do. I know I have already made a commitment that I need to honor but I would like to make a full time commitment that I absolutely would honor.
