Hi,
I'm considering joining the army guard as a 68W. My husband is active regular army. My question is: If I do join and my husband PCS' to another state, can I transfer my guard contract? I know you don't have to live in the same state as you drill in but, if he goes to Hawaii or Alaska, thats kind of far to travel every month.
Thanks

Yes, you can!

The National Guard has a very simple inter-state transfer program. What happens is if your husband gets a PCS to a new state, you will need to search for a new local unit, and then contact that unit(s) to find out if they have your MOS and also have an opening for you. Then work with your new unit and your old unit CoC to get the paperwork processed and get yourself transferred.

Please note that until the paperwork is completed and the transfer is official, you will still be responsible for attending drills/AT with your old unit.

If your husband is active duty, I would recommend going Army Reserve rather than Army National Guard. Even though you can transfer Guard units, it is much easier in the Army Reserve, especially since you will be at a military installation.

My question is can I transfer Air Guard Units just because I want to? OR hopefully, it will be because I am getting a new job in that location.

I am intell now and they dont have intell on the east coast, so I would switch jobs, but how would all this work. I am prior service navy and dont know how the Air Force does things, Thank for any responses.
