Please mail the audio to to me at mark.a.leo@uscg.mil

Interesting search for the Coast Guard Marching song. All the ones so far are using the musical tune for the chorus. "Semper Paratus is .....

None have had the musical tune for the verse. When you have that,

"From Aztec Shore to Arctic Zone

To Europe and Far East,

The Flag is carried by our ships,

In times of war and peace;

And never have we struck it yet

In spite of foeman's might.

Who cheered our crews and cheered again

For Showing how to fight."

It will all fit in nicely. I still recall that opening tune, it is different from the chorus..

Maybe the CG Band in New London ????

Down load the words, print them out, pull up the tune at fredsplace and sing along.

Semper Paratus

1st Verse (original, 1927 version)

From Aztec shore to Arctic zone,
To Europe and Far East.
The Flag is carried by our ships,
In times of war and peace.
And never have we struck it yet,
In spite of foe-men's might,
Who cheered our crews and cheered again,
For showing how to fight.

2nd Verse (original, 1927 version)

SURVEYOR and NARCISSUS,
The EAGLE and DISPATCH,
The HUDSON and the TAMPA
The names are hard to match;
From Barrow's shores to Paraguay,
Great Lakes or ocean's wave,
The Coast Guard fought through storms and winds
To punish or to save.

3rd Verse (original, 1927 version)

Aye, we've been "Always Ready"
To do, to fight, or die
Write glory to the shield we wear
In letters to the sky.
To sink the foe or save the maimed
Our mission and our pride
We'll carry on 'til Kingdom Come
Ideals for which we've died.

I have a one minute fifty-nine second version of Semper Paratus done by the CG band for the Bicentenial CD ... if that will help.

I didn't know people considered Semper Paratus a hymn ... as I would have never thought it would be sung during church services.

There is a Coast Guard Hymn, written in 1955, ... found at the CG's site and at jack's joint.

Anyways here's the link to CG Band BiCentenial CD version of Semper Paratus

Words and Music by Capt Francis Saltus Van Boskerck, USCG
Current version.
From North and south and East and West
The Coast Guard's in the fight
Destroying subs and landing troops,
The Axis feels our might
For we're thefirst invaders
On every fighting field
Afloat, ashore, on men andSpars
You'll find the Coast Guard shield
We're always ready for the call
We placeour trust in Thee
Through howling gale and shot and shell
to win our victory
"Sper Paratus" is our guide
Ourpledge,our motto, too
We're "Always Ready "do or die@!
Aye Coast Guard we fight for you
From Aztec shore to Arctic zone
To Europe and Far East
Ghe Flag is carried by our ships
In times of war and peace
And never have we struck it yet
In spite of foe-men's might
Who cheered our crews and cheered agai
For showing how to fight
We're always ready for the call
We place ourtrust in Thee
Through howling gale and shot and shell
To win our victory
"Spemper Paratus " is out guide
Our pledge our motto too
We're "Always Ready" do or die!
Aye Coast Guard we fight for you
I have a list of these songs I'll get to them later.
